Beauty Product Reviews is an independent directory of beauty products: the cleansers, serums, sunscreens, foundations, shampoos, hot tools, fragrances and devices people buy on Amazon, TikTok Shop and direct from brands. Every product gets a score, a plain-English explanation and links to the evidence behind it.
Why we built it
Buying beauty online is harder than it should be. Star ratings bunch up between four and five, so they rarely separate a good serum from a great one. TikTok Shop surfaces new products fast, but a viral video isn't a review, and plenty of glowing ones are paid. Brand pages promise "visible results" on nearly every bottle, and hair-tool listings rarely mention what fails after a year.
The useful information exists, but it's scattered: long creator reviews where someone actually wears the foundation for a full day, Reddit threads where people report back after months of use, ingredient lists, shade ranges and the fine print about actives and percentages. We gather it into one page per product, so you can decide in minutes instead of an evening of open tabs.
What makes us different
- Independent. No brand, retailer or platform owns us or can pay for a review, a score or a better spot on a list. We earn affiliate commissions, and they never touch a score; our affiliate disclosure explains how.
- Verified videos. Every creator video is checked with YouTube or TikTok before it appears, and an editor confirms it really reviews that product. Sponsored videos are labeled.
- Real quotes. When we quote Reddit or a forum, the words are verbatim and linked to the original thread.
- Evidence, not miracle claims. We describe what studies, dermatologists and reviewers actually report about an ingredient or product, and we never claim a cosmetic treats a medical condition. For skin, scalp or hair concerns that worry you, see a board-certified dermatologist.
- A community with its own voice. Members rate products, log what a product did for them and discuss it in threads. Their rating sits next to ours, never blended into it.
- A Benefit Wheel you can use. Our Benefit Wheel sorts what products do, from hydrating and barrier repair to frizz control, long wear and scent families, into eight families. Pick the benefits you care about and it shows products that match. What members report fills in the wheel on each product page.
What we don't do
We don't run a lab, and we don't personally test every product we list. Our scores are editorial opinions built from published ingredient lists and specifications, verified creator reviews, community consensus and value. How we score explains every factor and its weight. We'd rather say so up front than let a number look more scientific than it is.
Who we are
We're the Beauty Product Reviews editors. We read ingredient lists for fun, we've bought our share of viral flops, and we'd rather get the details right than publish first. Our editorial standards cover how we choose products, avoid conflicts of interest, handle health-related claims and fix mistakes.
The Glow Edit
Our newsletter, The Glow Edit, rounds up new reviews, score changes and the evidence behind the trends people are talking about. It's free, and every issue has a one-click unsubscribe link.
