The Beauty Product Reviews community is where people compare notes on skincare, makeup, hair, body care, fragrance and beauty tools. These guidelines keep it useful and friendly.
Be kind
Disagree with ideas, not people. No insults, harassment, slurs or hate, and no comments on anyone's face, body, skin or weight. Nobody has to justify loving drugstore moisturizer, a ten-step routine or no routine at all; everyone starts somewhere. Don't share anyone's personal information, and keep sexual, violent and illegal content off the site entirely.
Be specific
The best posts are the ones someone can learn from. Say how you used it: your skin or hair type, how often, for how long, what else was in your routine, and the shade or size you bought. A foundation review means more with your undertone and finish preference; a serum review means more after several weeks than after one night. When you log what a product did for you on the Benefit Wheel, pick the results you actually saw, not the ones printed on the box. Rate the product itself, not the shipping.
Disclose affiliations
If you work for a brand, retailer or distributor, or a company pays you, gifts you products or gives you a discount code, say so every time you post about it. Something as simple as "I work for this brand" or "this was sent to me for free" is enough. This applies to employees, ambassadors, sponsored creators and affiliates alike. Undisclosed promotion is removed and can lead to a ban.
No spam or self-promotion
- No affiliate links, referral codes or discount codes, including TikTok Shop links.
- Don't post just to promote your shop, channel or product. If something you made is directly relevant to a conversation, you can mention it once, with a disclosure.
- One account per person. Don't use extra accounts to vote, rate or back yourself up.
- Don't post the same thing in several threads.
No medical claims
Share your own experience, like "this broke me out" or "my redness looked calmer after a month," but don't tell people a product treats, cures or prevents anything, and don't diagnose anyone's skin, scalp or hair from a photo. Don't recommend prescription drugs, dosages or DIY treatments such as undiluted essential oils or household acids. Persistent acne, rashes, sudden hair loss, changing moles and reactions belong with a dermatologist or doctor, and so do questions about pregnancy, breastfeeding and medications.
How posts are screened
Every post is checked automatically before it appears. Quick checks look for spam patterns, blocked words, posts written mostly in capital letters and too many links. Then an AI safety model, Meta's Llama Guard running on Cloudflare, screens for harmful content. Most posts appear right away. Borderline posts wait for a moderator to review them, and clearly harmful content is blocked.
New members can include up to two links per post; posts with more wait for a moderator. The limit lifts once your account is three days old and you've made three posts. Automated checks make mistakes; if your post is held or blocked unfairly, let us know.
What moderators do
Moderators keep conversations on track. Depending on what happened, they may:
- remove a post, reply or rating, with a reason;
- lock a thread that has run its course or turned hostile;
- suspend an account for a set period;
- ban an account permanently for serious or repeated problems;
- limit the visibility of accounts that exist only to spam.
Members with a good track record may be made trusted members, which lifts the new-member link limit.
How to report a problem
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, use the Report option on the thread, reply, rating or profile, or send us the link through the contact form on our contact page. Reports are private. Please don't reply to spam or trolls; reporting is faster.
If a moderation decision affected you and you think it was wrong, contact us and we'll take another look.
