The verdict
A gentle 5% glycolic acid toner with aloe and ginseng — a cult beginner exfoliant, though it contains fragrance and works gradually.
Pixi's Glow Tonic is the brand's original exfoliating toner, with 5% glycolic acid plus aloe vera, ginseng and witch hazel water in an alcohol-free formula meant for daily use. UK Reddit users call it gentle but effective, and some prefer it to The Ordinary's stronger 7% toner. A Who What Wear editor found it gentle but slow, needing longer-term use for the best results, and the formula includes fragrance and a red colorant.

How it scored
Five factors, weighted for formulas. Here’s our working.
Beauty score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.
UK Reddit users credit it with clearer, brighter skin over time, and a Who What Wear editor saw gradual improvement in dullness and marks but no instant glow.
5% glycolic acid with aloe, ginseng and humectants is a sensible beginner exfoliant, but added fragrance, witch hazel and a red colorant are avoidable extras for sensitive skin.
Pixi describes a fast-absorbing, non-sticky toner, and the Who What Wear tester found it refreshing and soothing rather than stinging.
At $29 for 250 ml on Pixi's site it costs more than budget glycolic toners, though the large bottle lasts.
A long-standing cult favorite that r/SkincareAddictionUK users call a holy grail and recommend to beginners, with heavy creator coverage from 2017 to 2020.

I bought the whole set except the milky toner, because you can pry my Pixi glow tonic out of my cold dead hands!
PIXI Glow Tonic is my holy grail. Its only 5% though. I tried TO Glycolic and it was far too harsh for my skin.
pixi glow tonic is nice and gentle but effective, apply with a cotton round maybe every other morning then use serum and moisturiser.
The biggest impacts I’ve found to my routine is sunscreen (la Roche posay althelios spf 30) and a glycolic acid toner I use just at night (Pixi glow tonic).
I wouldn't call this an instant glow-giver, and although my skin looked slightly brighter post-use, ultimately, this is a product you need to use over a longer period of time in order to see the best results.

FAQ
Pixi says it can be used daily, morning and/or night, or as needed. For sensitive skin it suggests starting two to three times a week and building up gradually.
Pixi describes it as alcohol-free, but the ingredient list includes parfum/fragrance along with fragrance components such as linalool, limonene and citronellol.
Both are glycolic acid toners, but Glow Tonic lists 5% glycolic acid with aloe, ginseng and fragrance, while The Ordinary's has 7%. One r/SkincareAddictionUK user found The Ordinary's too harsh and prefers Glow Tonic.
Yes. Pixi's directions say to follow with serum or moisturizer and to use SPF during daytime use, as with any glycolic acid exfoliant.
