The verdict
An inexpensive low-pH gel wash with a light lather and a tea-tree scent — a solid morning or second cleanse, not a makeup remover.
COSRX's Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is a gel face wash with a stated pH of about 5.3, a mild isethionate and betaine surfactant base, betaine salicylate and tea tree leaf oil. Bloggers describe a gentle, low-foam cleanse that leaves skin clean but not tight, suited to a morning wash or second cleanse, and some Reddit users with sensitive combination skin rate it highly. Others with drier or dehydrated skin found it stripping, its herbal tea-tree smell divides people, and it stings if it gets in the eyes.

How it scored
Five factors, weighted for formulas. Here’s our working.
Beauty score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.
Bloggers report a clean, non-tight cleanse and calmer skin over weeks, but the betaine salicylate level is too low for real pore treatment, and some Reddit users and creators found it stripping or unimpressive.
A low-pH, sulfate-free surfactant base is barrier-friendly, but tea tree oil is a potential irritant for sensitive or allergic skin.
The slippery gel lathers lightly and rinses easily, but its medicinal tea-tree scent divides users and it stings in the eyes.
At $14 for 150 ml from the brand, with a dime-sized amount per wash, reviewers single it out as an affordable, well-formulated daily cleanser.
It is a long-running K-beauty staple and often a first Asian-beauty purchase, but 2026 r/AsianBeauty comments range from great for sensitive combination skin to terrible for a dehydrated barrier.

At first whiff, it smells a lot like tea tree oil, and almost a bit medicinal. I actually prefer this natural scent over a heavily fragranced one.
I have combo oily/normal skin that's sensitive and the Roundlab Birch Cleanser was Perfect. Cosrx's good morning cleanser also was great as well.
cosrx good morning gel cleanser- gothamista put me on it. It's more stripping than I like but it felt so fancy back then.
I haven’t tried that specific CosRX cleanser, but the ‘Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser’ was terrible for my moisture barrier, and I threw it away because my skin reacted in the worst of ways to it.
My skin felt clean but never stripped, tight, or squeaky. If you're used to that "squeaky clean" feeling from foaming cleansers, this will feel different, your skin should feel smooth and neutral after rinsing, not tight.

FAQ
COSRX lists it as pH 5.31 ± 1.00, which is mildly acidic and close to the skin's natural surface pH.
COSRX directs using it after removing makeup. Reviewers say it can handle light makeup but recommend an oil or balm first for heavy makeup or sunscreen, and note it stings around the eyes.
No added fragrance is listed, but it contains tea tree leaf oil, which gives it a noticeable herbal, medicinal scent.
It contains betaine salicylate, a mild BHA derivative. Reviewers note the amount in a rinse-off cleanser is more of a maintenance step than a real exfoliating treatment.
