The verdict
Lancôme's curved-wand gel mascara lifts and fans lashes without clumps, in two shades at $30; natural rather than dramatic.
Lash Idôle is Lancôme's lash-lifting, volumizing mascara: a lightweight gel formula on a curved, dual-sided elastomer wand that the brand says lifts and fans out lashes for up to 24 hours, at $30 for 0.27 oz in Glossy Black or True Brown. In a brand consumer test of 103 women, 95% saw instant lift. Bloggers praise the lift and flake-free wear, while some Reddit users find it more natural than dramatic. It is not waterproof and costs more than drugstore lifting mascaras.

How it scored
Five factors, weighted for makeup. Here’s our working.
Beauty score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.
Bloggers such as ReallyRee report quick lift, length and refined volume from the curved wand, and Lancôme's 103-woman panel saw instant lift, though some users find the result natural rather than dramatic.
Nubelease reported no flaking or smudging over about eight hours and Lancôme claims up to 24 hours of lift, but the original formula is not waterproof.
Only two shades, Glossy Black and True Brown, which is narrow even for a mascara.
$30 for 0.27 oz puts it among prestige mascaras, and bloggers such as Nubelease note that drugstore mascaras come close for less.
It is flagged as a bestseller on Lancôme's site and holds 4.6 stars across more than 19,000 Ulta reviews, while Reddit users split between fans of its natural look and those who prefer other Lancôme mascaras.

This is a lovely mascara that very quickly delivers lifted and lengthened lashes with refined volume. It is easy to use and the curved brush allows me to place the lashes exactly where I want them.
The best part of this mascara is no flaking, no smudging and it looked really good all day (for me that’s about 8 hours).
Lancôme lash idole in true brown: I love this for when I’m wearing a natural look and I want to go more warm tone. And it doesn’t flake or smudge and it works for the lower lashes.
Lash Idole is lengthening but watery and more natural looking. I recently picked up Defencils High Definition which I prefer over Lash Idole.
Lancome Lash Idole looks gorgeous but it does not play nice with ocular rosacea, I've gone back to Ilia's Limitless Lash because no one wants styes and swollen eyelids.
