The verdict
A heat-activated anti-humidity spray that delivers sleek, glossy blowouts for many, if you drench hair and blow-dry with tension.
Dream Coat is Color Wow's water-based anti-frizz spray: sprayed generously on damp hair and activated by blow-drying with tension, it forms what the brand calls a hydrophobic coating that lasts through 3–4 shampoos. Creator humidity tests and press reviews largely report smoother, shinier, frizz-resistant blowouts. It suits straight to wavy hair that gets blow-dried. The catch is technique and quantity: several reviewers say it needs a lot of product, and some fine-haired users report no visible difference.

How it scored
Five factors, weighted for formulas. Here’s our working.
Beauty score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.
Humidity tests from several creators and press reviewers show sleeker, shinier hair that holds up in rain, though results depend on blow-drying with tension.
A short, water-based polymer formula with built-in heat protection and no formaldehyde, but its performance relies on silicone polymers rather than any treatment benefit.
Press testers found it weightless and non-greasy, but it must be drenched through every section and blow-dried, which adds time and arm fatigue.
At $30 for 6.7 fl oz it is mid-priced, yet reviewers note how much product each application takes to saturate the hair.
A TikTok-viral cult product with heavy creator coverage, tempered by Reddit users with fine hair who say it did nothing for them.

While it's expensive, and you have to use a lot of product to really saturate your hair, it really does work.
I find that products like this can make your hair turn greasy quickly, but I didn’t experience that with Dream Coat
As for the anti-humidity and water-proof powers lasting up 3-4 shampoos; I'm not persuaded.
I also have fine hair and just didn’t notice a difference with dreamcoat. I feel like it’s overhyped tbh
I have fine/thin hair. I LOOOVE Color Wow. I literally use 5 or 6 of their styling products. For whatever reason, Dreamcoat did nothing for my hair.

FAQ
Yes, for full results. Color Wow says the formula is heat-activated and works best when hair is blow-dried section by section with a brush and tension; air-drying or rough-drying followed by a flat iron gives only some benefit.
Color Wow says it is a water-based formula with water-soluble polymers that contain a small silicone portion; the INCI lists polysilicone-29 and silicone quaternium-18. The brand describes them as non-oily and weightless.
Color Wow says it can be used after a keratin treatment because it works only on the hair's surface, and that its products are safe for extensions, though it advises checking with a stylist about your specific extensions.
The brand says results last through 3 to 4 shampoos. Some press testers found the smoothness lasted until the next wash but were not convinced it survived several shampoos.
