The verdict

ZIIP's palm-sized microcurrent and nanocurrent device with app-guided routines; results hinge on near-daily use and a steady supply of gel.

The ZIIP HALO is a palm-sized device that sends microcurrent and nanocurrent waveforms through two globes, with a built-in 4-Minute Facial and more treatments guided in the ZIIP app. The current version ships with four 1 fl oz conductive gels, and creators reviewing what they call the HALO 2.0 describe a re-engineered device. ZIIP cites a 32-person, 42-day SGS study. It costs $399.99, needs gel and 3–5 sessions a week, and independent press coverage of the current version is thin.

Best for

  • Microcurrent fans who want app-guided routines
  • People who will commit to several short sessions a week

What we love

  • Combines microcurrent and nanocurrent waveforms in a palm-sized device
  • Built-in 4-Minute Facial runs without the app; more routines are guided in the ZIIP app
  • Ships with four 1 fl oz conductive gels
  • 2-year warranty on manufacturing issues

Worth knowing

  • $399.99, and replacement gels cost $59.99–$89.99 each
  • Needs gel on clean, makeup-free skin before every session
  • Results depend on consistent use 3–5 times a week
  • Little independent press coverage of the current version

How it scored

The breakdown.

Five factors, weighted for tools and devices. Here’s our working.

7.3Good

Tool score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.

  • Performance30%7.3

ZIIP cites a 32-person, 42-day SGS study and creators report lift with regular use, but microcurrent effects are gradual and one Reddit user who has used two ZIIP devices says none delivered the results they wanted.

  • Build & reliability20%7.8

Creators describe the current version as a re-engineered device with redesigned globes, and ZIIP backs it with a 2-year warranty on manufacturing issues.

  • Ease of use15%7.4

The 4-Minute Facial works without the app, but every session needs gel on clean, makeup-free skin and the full app routines take more time.

  • Value20%6.6

At $399.99, plus $59.99–$89.99 per replacement gel, it costs more over time than the device price suggests.

  • Community love15%7.4

2026 creator reviews of the updated HALO are mostly upbeat, though several disclose PR, affiliate codes or brand thanks, and Reddit voices are more skeptical.

I've used the ZIIP and the ZIIP halo. I finally realized none of these devices are going to give me the results I wanted.

FAQ

Good questions.

Do I need the ZIIP app?

No. ZIIP says the HALO is programmed with the 4-Minute Facial, which uses both microcurrent and nanocurrent, so it works without the app. Other treatments and treatment plans need the free ZIIP app for iPhone, iPad and Android.

Is the ZIIP HALO FDA-cleared?

ZIIP's HALO product page makes no FDA-clearance claim. FDA's 510(k) database lists clearances for ZIIP's earlier ZIIP Device (K161484, 2017) and ZIIP+ Device (K212342, 2021), neither of which names the HALO.

How often should it be used?

ZIIP recommends 3–5 sessions a week, with a maximum of 6 a week when following a short-term treatment plan.

What comes in the box?

ZIIP lists the HALO device, Firm, Refresh, Glow and Clear Gels (1.0 fl oz each), a storage bag, a USB-C charging cable and the user manual.
