The verdict
A refreshing, oil-free aloe and hyaluronic acid gel-cream that excels at light, fast hydration rather than heavy barrier repair.
Moisture Surge 100H is Clinique's best-selling gel-cream moisturizer, built on aloe bioferment, two weights of hyaluronic acid and caffeine with vitamins C and E. It is oil-free, fragrance-free and allergy-tested, absorbs in seconds and can double as a five-minute mask or a highlighter over makeup. Creator reviews praise its light, fast-absorbing texture and long-lasting hydration, and its oil-free feel suits normal, combination and oily skin. It is a humectant gel-cream rather than a barrier cream, so very dry skin may want more, and the formula contains silicones and color dyes.

How it scored
Five factors, weighted for formulas. Here’s our working.
Beauty score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.
Delivers a quick hydration and glow boost that creators praise, but as a light humectant gel-cream it does less for very dry, compromised skin than richer barrier creams.
Humectant-rich and fragrance-free, but silicone-heavy, includes color dyes and relies on hydration rather than barrier lipids.
The refreshing gel-cream absorbs in seconds per Clinique and preps skin for makeup, which is its strongest feature.
Prestige pricing for a mostly humectant gel-cream; drugstore water gels offer a similar feel for less.
Clinique's bestselling moisturizer with mostly positive creator reviews, though one r/Sephora commenter calls it just alright next to the line's overnight mask.

currently been using clinique 100h moisturizer really good or byoma gel moisturizer also really good
Clinique Moisture Surge line is perfect if you have dry skin … i think the hydrator is alright, I like how it feels but the overnight mask is great.
Clinique 100H moisture surge. I buy two giant tubs on Black Friday every year. It is so lightweight and I started using in my early 20s when my skin was more oily than it is now.
Their two big moisturizers are Dramatically Different (Lotion) and Moisture Surge (Gel). You say you don't like gel, so maybe Dramatically Different would work, but having used both, the Moisture Surge gel is richer.
No AM moisturiser has ever compared to Clinique moisture surge. Very expensive unfortunately but unrivalled. Gel, hydrating not sticky, ZERO pilling.

FAQ
Yes. It is oil-free, non-acnegenic per Clinique and very light, which suits oily and combination skin. Drier skin may want a richer cream on top.
No. Clinique lists it as fragrance-free and allergy-tested. It does contain the colorants Red 4 and Yellow 5.
Clinique suggests applying a generous layer for five minutes and tissuing off the excess, and it can also be patted over makeup as a dewy highlighter.
Clinique says the formula provides 100 hours of stabilizing hydration based on its clinical testing after one use; it still recommends applying morning and night.
