The verdict
The best-known budget take on the C + E + ferulic formula: 20% L-ascorbic acid for $27.95, if you can keep it from oxidizing.
Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum pairs 20% L-ascorbic acid with vitamin E, ferulic acid and hyaluronic acid in a water-like serum. Dermatologists and creators have long compared it with SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic as a far cheaper alternative. It suits buyers who want a high-strength pure vitamin C on a budget and tolerate 20% L-ascorbic acid. Caveats: the brand recommends refrigeration and using it within 3-6 months because it darkens as it oxidizes, and Timeless advises stopping use if irritation occurs.

How it scored
Five factors, weighted for formulas. Here’s our working.
Beauty score out of 10. Brands can’t pay for placement — ever.
Dermatologists and creators often test it head-to-head against SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic; 20% L-ascorbic acid is a proven brightening active, though results depend on keeping it fresh.
20% L-ascorbic acid with vitamin E, ferulic acid and hyaluronic acid follows the proven C + E + ferulic template; supporting percentages are undisclosed.
Water-light and fragrance-free, but one Reddit user found it burning and too harsh, and Timeless recommends refrigeration because the serum darkens as it oxidizes.
$27.95 for 30 mL is a fraction of the price of the prestige formula it is most often compared with.
Reddit users repurchase it and call it the closest SkinCeuticals dupe, though a minority find 20% L-ascorbic acid too harsh.

The two Vitamin C I have purchased multiple times are the Trader Joe's version and the Timeless 20% c + e ferulic acid. The Timeless comes in a great bottle, I actually have cleaned it out and put my TJ's product into it to keep it from oxidizing.
I use Timeless 20% vit C … (closest dupe to Skinceuticals) … Was excited to try TJ, but seems like I'll just stick to Timeless
I just tried Timeless 20% vitamin c serum, and it's burning. It seems to be too harsh
